Welcome to St. John Lutheran Church...
creating and nurturing life changing relationships based on the love of God in Jesus Christ, so that we may grow in faith, serve God, and serve our neighbor. The church address, worship times, and link to a map can be found on the left (below for mobile users.) There is additional information on the About Us page.
One of the traditional ways to observe the season of Lent is to give something up; it’s a way to remind ourselves of Jesus fasting in the wilderness for 40 days and to appreciate the abundance in our lives. (That’s why we eat Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday; it’s the last chance to use up the foods that aren't allowed in Lent like fat, butter and eggs.) But instead of giving something up for Lent this year, I would like to challenge you to "do something for Lent." I would like to challenge you to practice discipleship. In sermons and committee meetings we have been talking about Faith Practices. Like a musician playing through the scales on the piano or basketball player shooting 100 free throw shots, these are the practices that will help us become better at discipleship. A worthy goal for the season of Lent.
Lenten Study - The Prodigal God
On Wednesdays in Lent (11:00a and 7:00p) we will be studying the book "The Prodigal God" by Timothy Keller. A book is not required for participation, but it would be very helpful. You may borrow a book from the library or a friend, purchase a book on-line or at your favorite bookstore, or, if you would like to order a book through the church, send a message, comment below, or call the church office. We will begin our study/discussion with the Introduction and Chapter 1 on March 12th.
Essential Jesus Challenge
You are invited to join with your St. John family as we re-commit ourselves to the study of scripture with the Essential Jesus Challenge; 100 readings in both the Old and New Testaments about life/teaching/ministry of Jesus. Instead of 3 each week, like we did last time with the E100, we will focus on one reading each week. Hopefully this will give us more time on each reading rather than feeling rushed and behind each week. The Adult Sunday school class will be focusing on the readings each week. The reading as well as questions for thought and discussion will be post on the St. John Facebook page and therefore the "News" tab of this site. Please contact Pastor O'Brien with any questions.

Church Picture Directory
The 2013 edition of the church photo directory is available on-line in the "Members Only" section of the web-site. Because the directory contains address and phone numbers it has been password protected. Church members may contact the church office for the user name and password. A copy will also be available from the church office.
